CORTLANDT ROWING COMPETITIVE MASTERS PROGRAM
Whether you rowed in high school or college, or learned as an adult, we welcome all experienced masters who want to row competitively in regattas. These rowers are expected to have a solid understanding of basic rowing techniques, concepts, and technical terminology. Those who join should be willing to commit to a consistent training schedule, willing to accept coach’s feedback and ready to compete with your teammates. Approval to be in the program is at discretion of CCRA’s Head Coach.
In addition to rigorous training and competition, we hope you will embrace a leadership role within the Cortlandt Rowing community, by helping to advance the skills of novice rowers, and setting an example of how to operate, train, and compete with dignity, respect, and professionalism.*
Fee $225 per rower. Regatta fees are separate.
PRACTICE SCHEDULE
Weekday mornings at 5:15am and weekday afternoons arranged on participant basis with at least one approved Competitive master rower.
Coached practices on Saturday and Sunday: 7:00am–9:30am
Competitive Masters Rowers are not required to attend every practice each week, but are encouraged to make as many as their schedule allows.
RACING
The Competitive Masters program will aim to compete in several local and regional regattas throughout the spring, summer and fall seasons. Races and events will be selected by the head coach based on the competitive potential of the crew and the attitude, attendance, and performance of the individuals throughout the season. Competitive Masters must review and agree to the regatta registration procedures and policies of the club (separate communication).
SWIM TEST
All Masters team members must sign a waiver OR pass a swim test each year consisting of: Swim 50 meters, tread water for 10 minutes, put on a PFD (lifejacket) while in the water. This is for your safety. Date and location of swim test will be announced.
