The Ice Cutter regatta is a masters-only invitational 1000m sprint race on our own Lake Meahagh! Local clubs are invited to this competitive, yet fun and friendly regatta to kick off the spring season.
Races will start at 8:00am (coxswain’s meeting at 7:30am). There’s an event for everyone: men/women singles, m/w doubles, mixed doubles, m/w coxed 4’s, m/w quads, and mixed 8’s. All CCRA Spring Masters are eligible to race, and it’s always more fun when friends and family come to cheer you on! The event schedule is here.
The Ice Cutter regatta gets is name from the history of Lake Meahagh. People (‘ice cutters’) were hired to harvest ice from Lake Meahagh in the late 1800’s, which was stored in ice houses located along the Hudson River. Ice blocks were then shipped via river barges and rail to customers in New York City.
CCRA masters, please sign up here if you intend on racing that day.
