The Ice Cutter regatta is a masters-only invitational 1000m sprint race on our own Lake Meahagh!
CCRA masters will host morning races, followed by a light buffet for hungry rowers. More details to follow.
The Ice Cutter regatta gets is name from the history of Lake Meahagh. People (‘ice cutters’) were hired to harvest ice from Lake Meahagh in the late 1800’s, which was stored in ice houses located along the Hudson River. Ice blocks were then shipped via river barges and rail to customers in New York City.
