CCRA Brick Challenge – January, 2020 @ CCRA Erg House
Jan 1 – Jan 31 all-day
CCRA Brick Challenge - January, 2020 @ CCRA Erg House

The Brick Challenge is based on the Concept 2 January Virtual Team Challenge. The local teams in the area will compete in a friendly competition to log the most meters on the erg during the month of January. The winning team will take home the coveted CCRA Brick! The Brick is a symbol of the local lore of Verplanck, as brick-making was a major industry in this town in the mid-late 1800’s. Log all meters rowed, at the erg house or at home, in your Concept 2 Logbook. Help the CCRA Vikings team win back the most wanted brick!

Feb 16 @ 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
Indoor tank session at West Point (Winter youth, masters, and Little Vikings) @ Caufield Crew and Sailing Center at West Point | West Point | New York | United States

Come and row indoors in the beautiful West Point boathouse! This is the next best thing to rowing on the water! You get to go through all the motions that you’d be doing on the water, but without any threat of tipping over (or weather-related inconveniences).

Signup sheets are posted. Please note time slots for each group:

  • 9:00am – 10:00am: Little Vikings
  • 10:00am – 12:00noon: Youth
  • 12noon – 1:00pm: Masters

All rowers must bring a signed West Point waiver 2019, once per season. Parents must sign for youth.  Also bring your usual rowing gear – re-usable water bottle, etc.

IMPORTANT: Everyone in the car MUST check in at the Vistor’s Center (2107 New South Post Road, West Point, NY 10996), or you will not be allowed on campus! The check in area is in the basement of the visitor’s center. All visitors ages 17 and up  must have government-issued ID (driver’s license or passport). Please allow an hour for check in and to find the boathouse. Check out the Visitor’s Center webpage, and Visitor’s Info for more information. They may also inspect your trunk, etc, when you enter the campus, so please allow a few extra minutes for that.

Directions to the boathouse (Caufield Crew and Sailing Center): The best location for Google Maps is Ernst Road in West Point, NY.

From the south (Thayer) entrance to West Point: after completing the ID check at the entrance, make the first right onto Williams St, to go down the hill toward the river. At the bottom of the hill, turn right and cross over the train tracks, then make a quick left to continue north along the river – you’re now on Ernst Road. Go to the end of the road… you’ll see two buildings on your left. The second one is the Caufield Rowing Center.

Parking: Please park only in designated parking spaces – in the small lot in front of the rowing center, or along Ernst Road, past the boathouse building, along the river. There is also parking once you pass over the train tracks – in the Yacht Club area (where the boats are on stands/blocks). Please do not park directly in front of the building in the fire lane (blocking the bay doors), on the sides, or behind the building.
