2021 Spring Youth

2021 Spring Youth

7th–12th Grade

A coached rowing program for youth to learn all aspects of the sport and prepare for competitive races. There’s a place on the team for everyone! Rowing develops teamwork, fitness, coordination and leadership skills.

  • 12 week program, runs from March 22 – June 10
  • Coached practices, all outdoors, either at the 6th St location, or Lake Meahagh. See info and download map with all locations.
  • Water safety; learning in sleek, safe boats
  • Strength and conditioning training
  • A sport for everyone! If your strength is not in rowing, we will train you to lead rowers as a Coxswain, and develop your leadership skills.
  • Sweep rowing in coach-determined ‘podded’ team boats, with teammates of similar age/skill level
  • Sculling in single boats, as appropriate

CCRA is committed to the health and safety of our rowers and staff. We will be following the recommendations of local authorities and US Rowing regarding COVID-19 concerns and conform to social distancing guidelines where possible. All rowers and families must read and agree to adhere to CCRA’s COVID-19 Policies and Procedures.

Fee: $375 per youth rower. Additional $50 fee to be charged separately for those that race at the NYS Championship.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Rowers must register within two weeks of the spring season start, or wait until the summer session.

Early spring: land practice, outdoors only, at the 6th St erg house parking lot:

  • Monday through Thursday: 5-7pm

Later spring: on-water, Lake Meahagh:

  • Monday through Thursday: 5-7:30pm

Practice will be cancelled if the weather is uncooperative.  Please be on lookout for communications via the SportsYou app.

CCRA will be attending the NYS Scholastic Rowing Championship at Saratoga Springs, NY, May 22-23.  Other local races may take place, and would be scheduled on weekends.
