CORTLANDT ROWING FALL YOUTH PROGRAM
7th–12th Grade
A coached rowing program for youth to learn all aspects of the sport and prepare for competitive races. There’s a place on the team for everyone. Rowing is a sport for everyone! Develops teamwork, fitness, coordination and leadership skills.
CCRA is committed to the health and safety of our rowers and staff. We will be following the recommendations of local authorities and US Rowing regarding COVID-19 concerns. So, our fall program will use small boats only (singles and family doubles), to reduce the possibility of virus spread, and to conform to social distancing guidelines. To further demonstrate a commitment to safety, all sessions will be held on Lake Meahagh, a shallow and protected lake: perfect for small boat rowers, beginner and experienced alike. All rowers and families must read and agree to adhere to CCRA’s COVID-19 Policies and Procedures.
Fee $250 per youth rower
IMPORTANT NOTE: Fall registration deadline is September 9!
PRACTICE SCHEDULE
Once per week on water. Rowers will be assigned to one of four slots. Start and/or end time will shift as the days get shorter toward the end of the season.
Practices will take place rain or shine. In the case of extreme weather, practices will take place remotely via Zoom. Be on the lookout for communications via the SportsYou app or text for last minute updates.
SWIM TEST
For rowers that have successfully passed a CCRA swim test in the past, parents/guardians must sign a waiver stating that their rower can comfortably perform: Swim 50 meters, tread water for 10 minutes, put on a PFD (lifejacket) while in the water.
For new rowers, location and time for a swim test (testing the skills listed above) is TBA.
